Essay

This dissertation work presents the results of studies of the thermodynamics properties of the solid helium at ultralow temperatures. It is found that in quenched and deformed crystals of 4He the temperature dependence of pressure demonstrates a contribution proportional to T2, which dominates at temperatures T<300 mK. Such a pressure behavior is specific to a glassy state. The contribution of a glassy state was not observed practically in well-annealed samples. An abnormally drastic pressure relaxation in quenched crystals was registered at temperatures close to the melting point.
