Essay

This thesis focuses on the study of complex sentences with subordinate determi-native (DC) in the cognitive-communicative coordinate system. The starting point of the analysis is to understand the DC as syntactic unit, specialized in terms of com-plementary judgment. The paper suggests a set of criteria for the delimitation of DC from close syntactic phenomena, grounds methodology of its study, identifies the nominative potential of DС, which is outlined by the range of its formal-grammatical models and certain derivative range and also by a clear set of logical-semantic types. It is proved that the logical-semantic invariant of DC is based on three of its varied manifestations - comment, comitative and causal. Particular attention is given to the ways and means of DC implementation in speech. For this purpose special emphasis is laid on the predicative arrangement of DC as a unity of temporal, modal and per-sonal aspects, the DC communicative and functional nature caused by actual division, communicative perspective and illocutionary directives, as well as on the specificity of the DC speech realization in different types of discourse. Keywords: determinative clause, nominative organization, modelling, syntactic derivation, logical and semantic typology, predication, communicative perspective, discourse.
