The essay provides and proves the scientific thesis, methodological and practical recommendations concerning the strategic trends of forming the competitive region; the nature of the strategy of forming the competitive region is specified, as well as the connection between the general categories of the definition's tool of regional competitiveness, the methodological approaches for the evaluation of the present and strategic competitiveness; the keystones of problem-focused analysis of territories' competitiveness are defined; the general evaluation of region competitiveness in progress is performed, general tendencies and prospects for genesis of Ukrainian regions are defined; the level of present competitiveness of Cherkassy region and the rest Ukrainian regions both with the strategic competitiveness are scrutinized; the concept approaches to the elaboration of strategic trends of forming the region's competitiveness are produced; the primary trend stands for forming the strategic zones of management on realm's and regional's levels; the recommendations are grounded for the elaboration of vectors for forming the competitiveness on the basis of defining the points of economic growth and means of strategic management.
