The dissertation is devoted to the features of emotional development of mentally retarded younger pupils, depending on the influence of the educational environment with different forms of learning; to the development and approbation of a comprehensive program of correction of the emotional development of mentally retarded younger pupils in the experimental conditions of the educational environment. Dissertation describes the conceptual approaches to the definition of the emotional development and its indicators and the age characteristics of the emotional development of mentally retarded pupils at primary school age. The influence of the structural components of the educational environment on the emotional development of mentally retarded younger pupils has been identified and the structural-conceptual elements of the educational environment of a rehabilitation center, a boarding school and individual training as factors of emotional development have been analyzed. The specific features of the emotional development of mentally retarded younger pupils depending on the influence of the educational environment with different forms of learning have been revealed. A comprehensive program of correction of violations of emotional development including techniques of direct and indirect influence in the experimental conditions of the educational environment has been worked out. The series of individual and group extracurricular lessons for correction and development and implementation of the technique of the indirect correcting and developing influence has ensured the development of the conceptual and instrumental components of the emotional spheres of the pupils, which proves the effectiveness of the use in the correction program suggested.
