Essay

Actual scientific and technical task of substitution of the expensive chromium nickel cast iron 280-Cr28-Ni2 brand mark for much more inexpensive chromium-manganese one has been solved in this dissertation work. Investigation of influence of alloying, microalloying and modification processes of the basic cast iron evidenced, that additional treatment with supplements Ti, V, Sb, B and REM changes drastically structure and up-grades its exploitation properties. The cast irons recommended have good foundry properties that gives opportunity to manufacture the different wear resistant goods details of any configuration, mass, complexity by the casting methods. Optimal regimes of the heat treatment of the cast irons recommended have been worked out which give opportunity to gain martensite-austenitic structure, thus high hardness and wear resistance. Melting technologies of the cast irons recommended and production of the casts of them for different purposes have been developed. The technologies developed were approbated in manufacturing conditions and the results obtained support perspective of the chromium-manganese cast irons use for production of the wear resistant cast details. Keywords: chromium-manganese cast iron, microalloying, modification, casting, wear resistance, hardness, heat treatment, structure.
