Essay

Dissertation is dedicated to experimental investigation of mass- and heat-transfer in pulsating heat pipes. Full picture of heat carrier flow and classification of main operation modes are presented as results of visualization tests. Factor influencing on borders of this regimes were detected. Dissertation also contains results of experimental investigation of regime (input heat flux, cooling temperature, orientation in space) and geometric (number of turns, relation between lengths of heating and condensation zones) factors influence on heat-transfer characteristics (temperature drop between zones, thermal resistance, equivalent heat conductivity) of pulsating heat pipe. Empirical equation for PHP thermal resistance estimation is presented in the dissertation. Design recomendations for pulsating heat pipes are also presented. New cooling system on pulsating heat pipe for electronic components and central processor units of personal computers was designed with using of this method.
