Essay

Thesis describes development of resistance spot welding method in which external electromagnetic forces are used. It was determined that application of transversal symmetrical-opposition magnetic field to the weld formation zone leads to positive effect. Four-poled electromagnetic system was used for field generation. Research have shown that such field helps to obtain symmetrically (relatively to the surface of specimens' contact) located welded spot in case of welding of dissimilar materials with different thermalphysic properties as well as reduction of time needed to welded joint formation with pre-defined geometrical dimensions, refinement of welded spot metal structure and decreasing of its chemical microinhomogeneity. All above mentioned leads to improvement of welded joints' strength. General requirements and principles were developed based on experiments' results for development of complex of specialized equipment for welding with electromagnetic forces mentioned. Also technological recommendations concerning its application for resistance spot welding were developed.
