Mykytyn T. Distribution and functional role of the ants (Hymenoptera, Formicidae) in the forest ecosystems of the Ukrainian Carpathians.

The thesis is dedicated to studying biologically-ecological peculiarities of ants (Hymenoptera, Formicidae) in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The distribution and zoogeographical ants complexes, food supply and operation of roads, complexes myrmecophytes plant two kinds of the ants in different forest types have been investigated. The ecological and morphological characteristics of ants on the research area, breeding and biotopical affinity were studied, and describes. Researched and proved the value of ants in forest protection and ways for their protection. The species composition of ant associations and density of nests in the technologically-transformed ecosystems were studied. The influence of anthropogenic impact on the species composition myrmecocomplex was revealed.
