Synyutka O. Development of metropolitan functions of a large city

The object of study: the processes of formation, development and implementation of metropolitan functions of the large city. Objective: deepening of the theoretical and methodological foundations of activation of metropolitan functions of large cities and developing of practical recommendations for improving of regional policy of spatial development based on improving and implementing of metropolitan capacity of regional metropolises. Methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, structural and functional, statistical and factor analysis, integral evaluation, multivariate regression analysis and economic-mathematical modeling, strategic analysis and systematic approach. Novelty: improved conceptual foundations of research of metropolisation in terms of systematization: the dominant features of this process, the main criteria that determine the presence (absence) of metropolitan features of large cities, the main factors of increasing their metropolitan potential, approaches to assessment of the intensity and spatial distribution functions of the regional metropolis in the surrounding area, methodical approaches to integrated assessment of metropolitan features of large cities, which, unlike the existing ones, based on the identification of hierarchical and functional structure of city metropolity, instruments for research of intensity of center metropolitan impact on socioeconomic development of administrative districts of the region, including criterion of their territorial proximity. Scope of application: in the activities of central authorities in the preparation of strategic and program documents, Volyn chamber of commerce in substantiation of measures for enhancing of international cooperation of Lutsk with foreign partner cities for promoting of positive image of the city, regional authorities in planning and preparing of programs of spatial and socio-economic development of Ternopil region.
