Essay

The subject of the research: the colonial policy of the German Empire in Africa. The aim of the dissertation: complex characteristics of German colonial communities, formed in the African possessions of Germany in the late XIX - early XX century. The methods: historical-genetic, comparative-historical, historical-typological, historical-systemic. Scientific novelty: the author has determined basic factors, which facilitated the transformation of migratory settlement into special colonial communities with their own values system; the specification of economical development as well as social system and cultural life of these communities is reported; the influence of the law system on the immigrants’ life, developed by metropole and colony’s administration, is found out; the social structure of German communities in Africa is analyzed thoroughly; the position of different social groups of immigrants inside the colonial communities is reflected; the author tried to detect positive and negative results of the dialogue between civilizations of German colonists and Africans. The practical meaning of investigation: materials of the dissertation can be used in the preparation of scientific works, textbooks, programs and special courses on history, international relations and other disciplines. Field of application: universities.
