Stezhko O. Agroecological features of cultivation of tomatoes on the territory of Zhytomyr Polissya

Thesis for a degree in agricultural sciences, speciality - 03.00.16. - Ecology. Zhytomyr National Agroecological University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Zhytomyr, 2015. Theoretical and experimental material connected with agroecological peculiarities of different fertilizing systems and their influence on tomatoes grown under conditions of Zhytomyr Polissya is presented in the thesis. The influence of different variants of fertilization on the growth, development, productivity and environmental performance of tomatoes grown in the open and under glass is investigated. The dynamics of growth of vegetative mass of tomatoes depending on fertilizing systems is studied. The period of intensive plant growth when plants need the maximum nourishment is discovered. Evaluation of tomato crop capacity in terms of marketable and nonmarketable products made possible to reveal positive impact of organic fertilizers on tomato plants. Biochemical parameters of tomatoes such as dry matter, content of microelements and vitamin C are studied, their dependence on the type of fertilizer is determined. The impact of fertilization on the concentration of nitrates and heavy metals in the production of tomatoes was studied and it was found out that fertilizers increase the concentration of nitrates in fruits, while heavy metals content grew with the organic manure.
