The object of study are artificial plantations with participation of species of the genus Larix L. in relation to the techniques of their establishment and cultivation in conditions of Western Polissia. The subject of study are peculiarities of preparation of seeds for sowing, production of planting stock, growing and accumulation of wood in larch artificial stands of Western Polissia. The objective of the work is to determine the efficiency of various methods of increasing sowing quality of seeds and improve the techniques for growing larch planting material, to develop the types of forest crops with its participation, to show the advisability and conditions of their introduction for efficient production of timber by plantations in Western Polissia. Methods of study - silvicultural, reconnaissance, forest inventory, morphometric, analysis of variance, mathematical modeling, and comparative ecology. Scientific novelty. The level of sowing quality of larch seeds was found to be of average quality ( quality class II ) under conditions of the region. Revealed was a positive effect on the germination energy and capacity of larch planting stock by certain growth regulators such as Emistym, Fumarate, Maxim, Zircon, Micosan. It was found that dominant, in terms of viability, are healthy and fairly healthy specimens of Larix decidua, Larix leptolepis, Larix eurolepis. It was revealed that most productive and hardy plantations with participation of Larix decidua are characterized by an average density of the crowns with thin or medium knots, well cleared stems and narrow comb-shaped bark. In stands with participation of Larix leptolepis, prevailing are trees with dense crowns, medium knots, fairly cleared stems and narrow-scaled type of bark. The Larix eurolepis stands are characterized by dense crowns, thin knots, fairly cleared stems with wide-scaled type of bark. The regional technology for growing larch planting material has been improved and the appropriate density level of forest plantations with participation of larch has been further substantiated. Practical significance. Regional types of forest crops with participation of larch have been developed and recommendations were given for forest enterprises in Western Polissia, the use of which is to ensure high productivity and sustainability of forest stands, accumulation of significant volumes of timber within the 50-60-year period. Resource potential for larch in fairly fertile site type, provided that the developed techniques of cultivation are applied, is higher than that of common pine, while in conditions of fairly infertile pine site type it is similar to the potential of pine. The optimal nutrient requirements and hydrological conditions for the growth of larch in the study area have been identified. The field of application: forestry
