Essay

The functioning of biosynthetic pathway of serotonin (the content of tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptophan, serotonin, tryptophan hydroxylase, tryptophan decarboxylase, monoamine oxidase activity), main carbohydrate and protein-lipid metabolism markers (glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, the rate of peripheral tissue glucose uptake in response to insulin, insulin, glycosylated hemoglobin), the content of free amino acids and serum biochemical parameters have been studied under development of experimental obesity in rats. Studies have shown that the long-term high-calorie diet consumption and/or a 10% solution of fructose leads to increased body weight and BMI in all research groups due to the excessive food and/or fluid consumption. It was shown that the development of obesity was accompanied by a change in the general biochemical markers (creatinine, urea, uric acid, total and direct bilirubin, albumin, and total protein) content, and in the marker enzymes (?-amylase, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase) activity, indicating the involvement of this disease in the development of various pathologies.
