Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of incantations as independent and specific folklore genre, features of its emergence and an existing, relationships of magic with mythology, religion, literature which are low-investigated for today. The thesis consists of introduction, four chapters and conclusive remarks. In the first chapter we introduce the bibliography and provide a brief history of the investigations. Also the main problems to be solved in the dissertation are formulated. In the second section of the first chapter generally-known, innovative and borrowing from other branches of science methodological frameworks are stated. In the third section we are talking about the role and place of magic in the ethnic culture. The second chapter is devoted to study of the incantation's semantic and poetic structure, in particular - to specificity of spell as a genre, characterization of its imagery and phonosemantic features.
