Essay

The thesis makes a сomplex comparative analysis of the two linguistic, genetically and geographically distant cultures, which represent the first - Western, European tradition and the second - Oriental (Japanese), based on the ancient layers of their narration. The work gives the detailed analysis of the research of the Ukrainian folk tales from their first printed collections from the beginning of the XIXth century up to nowadays, besides it is observed different methods and approaches of folk tales studying. The research shows the views of the concept "myth", "mythology", "mythological narrative" etc. At first time it is mentioned the wide range of the materials from the Japanese studies, both theoretical and practical. The collections "Kojiki", "Nihonshoki" are detailed analyzed, they have started to be actively overviewed in Japan and overseas from the middle of the XXth century.
