PhD thesis is dedicated to development the method of estimation the aboveground biomass pine stand based on airborne LiDAR data. Method applies more information about the three-dimensional structure of natural objects derived from the processing of airborne LiDAR data compared with known methods. Furthermore, the method is adapted to determine and calculate characteristics of stand which using for forest inventory of Ukraine. Methodological and algorithmic instructions to determine the biomass pine stands were proposed. These instructions allow automatically calculating the characteristics of the stand, such as the allocation of each tree, tree height, diameter at breast height of trunk, completeness stand. Author have proposed some methods for calculating quantitative characteristics stand, namely: method of automatic detection of trees; method for calculating volume indicators crown; method for evaluation leaf area index; method for calculation of the diameter at breast height. The proposed method for determining the above-ground biomass of the Scots pine stand based on airborne lidar data has been tested on the forest sites of Martev, Tuczno Forest, West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. The accuracy of determining the above-ground biomass with the help of the developed method is 88-91%.
