Essay

The thesis is devoted to the studying of morphological, immunohistochemical, molecular-genetic and chemical characteristics of infiltrative ductal breast cancer tissue and the studying of its morphogenesis on condition of the accumulation of heavy metals in the tumor tissue. There were investigated 94 cases of breast cancer; histological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, electronic microscopy, molecular, genetic and statistical methods are used. The thesis presents a new theoretical substantiation and the decision of actual questions of breast cancer morphogenesis when heavy metals are accumulated in neoplastic tissue. The increasing level of heavy metals in tumor tissue is shown to lead to the quantitative and qualitative changes in it. The impact of heavy metals on receptor profile of tumor cells, the destabilization of the genetic material and qualitative changes in the histological picture of infiltrative ductal breast cancer have been established due to the complex morphological, immunohistochemical and molecular genetic studies. Heavy metals are shown to be directly involved in the progression of carcinogenesis. It has been established that heavy metals inhibit the expression of prognostically-favorable receptors, activate negative intracellular proteins, stimulate biomineralization of tumor, pathological methylation and DNA fragmentation, which negatively affects the morphogenesis of neoplastic process in the breast.
