Essay

Object: lipid profile of tissues under conditions of insulin resistance caused by alimentary obesity. Aim: to explore the protective effect of N-stearoylethanolamine on liver and pancreas of rats under experimental insulin resistance. Methods: the experimental model of insulin resistance in rats, gas-liquid and thin layer chromatography, enzyme immunoassay, enzymatic, colorimetric, spectrophotometric, statistical methods. It has been shown that administration of N-stearoylethanolamine (NSE) to rats with developed insulin resistance contributes to the normalization of the lipid composition of liver and pancreas of rats, followed by restoration of insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance. It has been found that NSE treatment triggered the increase of antioxidant enzymes activity, the inhibition of lipid and protein peroxidation products formation in the liver and the reduction of serum TNFalpha level in rats with experimental insulin resistance.
