Essay

This thesis presents new solution of the scientific problem which consists in improving of energy efficiency of a torque flow pump of "Turo" type by using of advanced dimensioned volute. The solution of this problem allows us to reduce the cost of the service life of the pump. The casing of the torque flow pump was designed with dimensioned volute which takes into account complex three-dimensional liquid flow. By means of the adequate mathematical models we obtained the patterns of the liquid flowing through the hydraulic passage of the casings with different designs. It permitted us to determine the structure of the losses occurring in this area, distributions of the velocity and pressure and as the result to assess the advantages of the dimensioned volute over other designs. The research of the geometry influence of the casing with dimensioned volute on the power performance of the torque flow pump allowed us to determine efficient range of their values during designing. By means of the calculation we determined the energy efficiency of the torque flow pump with dimensioned volute and efficient range of specific speed of this pump. The results were confirmed in an experimental way on the test rig. The design procedure of the casing with dimensioned volute for torque flow pump with high specific speed ns > 140 taking into account special properties of the viscous liquid flowing through it is proposed.
