Essay

The thesis is devoted to the boundary friction processes investigation using thermodynamic model of ultrathin lubricant melting, which is grabbed between two atomically-smooth solid surfaces. The behavior of two simple mechanical analogues of tribological systems have been described: during the shearing of upper block in one direction and during the external periodical influence. It has been found out that depending on lubricant control parameters, regimes of dry, interrupted and sliding friction can be realized.
