Onuk L. Ecological features of the wetlands' condition in Stvyha river basin

The thesis presents a complex research on wetlands ecosystems of Stvyha river basin based on examination of vegetation, bog stratigraphy, and ecological condition features. In this work, ecological features of wetlands within Ukraine and Republic of Belarus were investigated; the patterns of spatial distribution of wetlands were defined as well as qualitative and quantitative characteristics of wetlands arrays (with evaluation of their area and condition, morphological and ecological features, location). The conclusions were drawn on conservation of swamp species in situ and ex situ. Ecological, taxonomical, phytocoenotic and sozological analysis of vegetation of swamp plant-groups was performed in the examined region. Based on the stratigraphy of swamp arrays the peculiarities in dynamics and transformation of wetlands ecosystems' vegetation in this region were defined. The rank, status, localization and function of conservation objects was defined. Areas promising for addition to the conservation network as landscape and biodiversity reserves were allocated. Proposals for sustainable use, condition optimization, protection and conservation of natural resources of Stvyha-basin wetlands were developed.
