Essay

The practical value of the results of the work is in the fact that the proposed method of specification of a diesel engine for a sea-going vessel allows application of adequate criteria for choosing of an engine and simplifying the procedure of making a choice for an appropriate efficient engine. An example of implementation of the developed method for a choice of a low-speed diesel engine showed that its application could reduce specific fuel consumption at exploitation to 2 g/(kWt·h), or at a recalculation per a diesel nominal capacity to 16.8 kg/h.
