Cherlinka T. Ecological assessment of agricultural landscapes in Forest Steppe of Ukraine (case study of Ternopil region)

The thesis is devoted to system environmental assessment of agricultural landscapes in Ternopil Region of Ukraine and substantiation of measures to improve the environment. It was established that areas of all districts in Ternopil region are in crisis. The model of possible adverse effects of environmental condition of study area on economic and social processes in the agricultural domain was validated. A qualitative assessment of agricultural landscapes based on diversity data was proposed. It was determined that efficiency measures of phytomelioration through meadowing and afforestation of degraded and low-productive land without making significant restructuring of the existing structure of agricultural landscapes are not sufficiently effective for significant improvement of the ecological state. Preventing the further intensification of the ecological crisis in Ukraine is possible only by radically restructuring the existing structure of agricultural landscapes based on environmental regulation. Such measures are possible only after the establishment of large-area farms with the area of at least 4000 hectares.
