Kryvoruchko M. Assessment of interregional convergence in Ukraine.

The thesis develops a theoretical and methodological basis of interregional convergence in Ukraine. The main regional development theories and approaches to reduction of interregional disparities in socio-economic development have been examined. The methodology of analysis of convergent and divergent processes in socio-economic development in Ukraine has been developed. The scientific-methodological approach to interregional convergence assessment has been proposed; its research framework is based on examining social and structural aspects of institutional environment. Empirical evidence on institutional factors influence on interregional convergence indicates key role of structural changes in the national and regional economies in the process of increase in welfare, reduction of interregional disparities, and institutional environment strengthening.
