Essay

The dissertation is devoted to complex investigation of features and differences of relationship and mutual influences of the Vikings and the Irish at the end of VIII–X centuries. Peculiarities of influence of the Vikings in three main directions of society life: military and political, cultural and religious, social and economic are analyzed separately based on the study of sources of Irish and Scandinavian origin. Based on the sources a thorough analysis of the image of the Vikings in the public consciousness Irish is made.
