The thesis is devoted to complex research of a role and the place of the Ukrainian question in political and publicistic activity of the famous leader of the Polish national democrats R. Dmovsky (1864-1939). The main points of his biography were reproduced, namely: features of formation of the personality and evolution of political views on the solution of "the Ukrainian question" in the context of restoration of the Polish statehood at the end of XIX - the beginning of the XX century; political activity was analyzed in the conditions of Austro-Hungarian and Russian board, World War I and during existence of the II Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
