Based on research of ravine-gully oak stands of central Dnieper Upland it's proved the ability of protective forest plantations to counteract water erosion. It's researched a number of meliorative properties of protective forest plantations, including: hardness and permeability of soil, meliorative properties of forest litter, erosion control role of root systems, agrochemical properties of soil, the distribution of snow and moisture reserves in it, soil freezing etc. The features of growth plantations on eroded lands have been researched. Found that protective forest plantations on ravine and gully lands perform their functions completely accumulate runoff and convert it into the soil.
