Object - stem pests of unclosed pine plantations; aim - reasoning the measures of unclosed plantations protection in Siversky Donets river valley from stem pests on the base of research of their biological peculiarities, seasonal development, spread and injuriousness; methods - entomological, silvicultural, statistical; novelty - biological and ecological peculiarities of stem pests (pine weevil and bark beetles) of unclosed pine plantations of the region have been studied; peculiarities of seasonal development have been revealed; phenological groups of these insects have been determined; relations of spread and injuriousness of these pests with forest site conditions have been evaluated; the terms of harm of these pests have been determined; effectiveness of treatment with modern insecticides has been evaluated; results - methods of assessment for stem pests in unclosed pine plantations has been improved; methods of insecticide treatment have been improved; the dates of protection of unclosed pine plantations from stem pests have been grounded; numerical score has been suggested for prediction of spread and injuriousness of stem pests in unclosed plantations taking into account natural zone and forest site conditions; four Recommendations have been implemented, which are based on these research; sphere of application - forestry
