Essay

The dissertation considers characteristics of the ichthyocenoses transformation in terms of anthropogenic changes in river systems of the northwestern part of the Azov Sea Region. It is established that the hydroconstruction activity, which had a large scale in the second half of the 20th century, has caused significant changes in hydroecological conditions of water bodies. These changes resulted in the dynamics of hydrobiont species diversity: from 36 fish species at the beginning of the 20th century to peak numbers in the second half, and a reduction in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
