The dissertation research is devoted to the problem of formation of ideas about the future family of mentally retarded adolescents with the purpose of improving ways of preparation the pupils of special schools for adult independent life, one of the components of which is the creation of their own family. The theoretical analysis of psychological principles of preparation of adolescents for family life in general and special psychological and pedagogical literature is carried out. The factors, criteria and levels of ideas about the future family of mentally retarded boys and girls in adolescence are defined. Their age dynamics and gender differences are shown.The peculiarities of ideas formation about the future family of mentally retarded adolescents are defined. The complex system of correction and developmental work on the formation of ideas about the future family of mentally retarded adolescents isworked out and approved.
