Essay

The thesis is devoted to complex research of Shang Yang reforms. In the course of the research it is defined the key concepts and aspects, classified sources and study methods. Based on written authentic Chinese (narrative, epigraphic), archeological sources has shown the specific socio-political transformations in the Seven Warring States during VI-IV centuries B.C. (Eastern Zhou), analyzed the social, military and political changes in the State of Qin in the IV century B.C., that completely changed the face of Qin, reproduced stages of reforms, reveals their essence, tracked the forms and methods of management introduced by Shang Yang, studied the development of state-legal process of Ancient China with consideration of socio-political doctrine of fa jia (legalism) that occupies a special place and dominates in China's intellectual history by that time. Shang Yang reforms in Qin State can be rightly considered as an important event, when in a short period of time the existing backlog from direct competitors was overcome and the transformation of Qin society was made. The implemented forms and methods of state management has identified and formed the subsequent history of China for thousands of years. Shang Yang was certainly a product of his era, and at the same time he was its active creator, while implementing both his own interests and basic needs of society in specific historical conditions. His reforms concerned many areas of Qin society. He focused his doctrine around a number of components: war, agriculture, weakening of ancestral aristocracy, elements of the state strengthening. As a result a new state with new social structure, reformed economic, social, cultural and civil components, and confident residents had arisen.
