The thesis the first in modern Ukrainian historiography research summarizing the transformation of the Polish political system of the mid-50th century that contextualized the crisis in the Soviet bloc countries. Based on various historical sources and scientific literature, the positions and actions of different political forces and the international community as well as their reaction on social and political processes in Poland were investigated. Polish emigration centers and their role in shaping the world view of Polish citizens was analyzed. The events of 1956 in the Polish People's Republic (PPR), that were a phenomenon of domestic and international issues, became relevant especially after geopolitical changes in Central and Eastern Europe in the late twentieth century. Today, there is a discussion in Polish society how to estimate PPR achievements.
