Essay

In the thesis the scientific and methodological principles of regional dimension of the socio-economic development on the basis of spatial approach were studied. The work reveals the dialectics of formation and the peculiarities of transformation of conceptual and categorical apparatus in the research of problems of regional development, defines modern scientific and methodical approaches to managing economic sustainability of the region and suggests appropriate methodological framework taking into account the motivational mechanism. The evaluation of phases of regional economic space formation and their properties according to the typology of the content of lifecycle was carried out. Specific constituents and socio-economic content of the spatial potential were studied. The background for conceptual approach to the typology of economic area of regions was shown and appropriate methodological approaches to their classification were proposed. Foreign experience of formation of regional economic policy and main directions of regional development system based on spatial approach were generalized.Theoretical, methodological and practical recommendations for the development of regional economic space that helps improve process of socio-economic areas development were elaborated. The main features of economic space were formulated, long-term and short-term objectives and corresponding criteria of economic space in the region were highlighted.It is indicated that sustainable socio-economic development of the region is characterized by its ability to provide positive dynamics of the level and quality of life and to use new factors and conditions for this purpose, including balanced reproduction of economic, social and natural resources localized in its territory.
