The thesis is devoted to the intentional synthesis and structure characterization of the new thiazolylazonaphthol dye - 1-(5-benzylthiazol-2-yl)azonaphthalen-2-ol (BnTAN) and its derivative 1-[(5-(4-sulfonamidobenzyl-4-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)diazenyl]naphthalen-2-ol (SABnMeTAN), and also to the investigation of their interaction with transition metal ions and for checking the possibility of application of these azodyes in analytical chemistry. The effective molar absorption coefficients of colored compounds were found. The structure of the synthesized azo dye BnTAN was determined using the X-ray analysis, IR-, NMR- and mass-spectroscopy.The formation of chelate complexes of ions such as Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pd(II) and Hg(II) with 1-(5-benzylthiazol-2-yl)azonaphthalen-2-ol was established. The optimal conditions for the complexation reaction were investigated. The new methods for spectrophotometric and extraction-photometric determination of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pd(II) ions with BnTAN were developed. The elaborated techniques were checked during the analysis of model solutions by means of the "added-found" method. The techniques were tested on real samples: soils, resistor, water from various sources.
