Essay

The thesis is devoted to the research of the information systems based on the event-driven approach. Such systems became widely used for the information streams processing. This process requires execution “on-the-fly” thereby it should have the ability to respond in a real time mode. As a rule, a continuous information stream is not continuous in the mathematical sense of this word. A continuous information stream can be considered rather as a sequence of elementary (atomic) events such that each of them carries some information fragment. A finite segment of an event stream is a complex event if this segment has semantic meaning in the context of the interest. In the thesis an important for the applications scientific problem of the mathematical models and analysis methods development for the event-driven systems was solved. An analysis of the existent approaches to the event streams process-ing led the author to the formulation and development of the general mathematical model of the complex event processing system. This model was called Complex Event Processing Machine (CEP-machine).
