In this work, the enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant defense responses to acute salt stress in Arabidopsis knockout lines with impaired expression of genes Cat2 and / or Cat3 were studied. The difference between the lines in the level of oxidative damage (lipid peroxidation) and polyphenol content is much lower. Therefore, metabolic compensation of decreased catalase activity in the three knockout lines is achieved in all three genotypes, but is caused by the activation of different parts of the antioxidant defense system.
