Pavlenko S. Consular establishments in the system of the Russian-Japanese relations (1850's - 1917).

The object of research: the Russian-Japanese relations of the second half of XIXth - the beginning of XXth centuries. The aim of research is in the implementation of a comprehensive study of the functioning of consular offices, determining their place and role in the system of Russian-Japanese relations of the second half of XIXth - the beginning of XXth centuries. Methods: comparative-historical, historical and typological, synchronistic, personalistic. In the research for the first is: reconstruct the activities of individual consulates; conduct a comprehensive comparison of the functioning of the Russian consulates in Japan and Japanese in the Russian Empire; prove that the functions assigned to certain consular offices; compose a complete list of consulate’s managers and defined periods of their management; establish the peculiarities of the personnel policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire and Japan by complete state institutions; show the effect of the leaders on the activities of consulates.
