In the dissertation thesis it has been researched ways of a formation of social and political status of the Ukrainians in Canada during the interwar period, a participation of the Ukrainians in political and public life and the impact on them the policy of Canada. It has been revealed the causes of the second wave of the Ukrainian immigration abroad, which were both economic and social and political background and were explained by the lack of their own state in Ukrainians and by their position under the rule of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania and the USSR. It has been shown the nature of immigration, structure, conditions of relocation too. It has been submitted the dependence of immigration processes on immigration Canadian lawmaking, emigration policy of Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia, the USSR, activity of nautical companies and of aid societies. It has been researched possibilities of leaving the territory of Ukraine. Thus, the emigration from Ukrainian territory within Poland, Romania and Czechoslovakia was encouraged, while any possible obstacles for leaving the USSR were created. It has been characterized the stages and changes in immigration policy of Canada, shown their connection with economic, social and political situation in the country. It has been defined those categories of immigrants, that were encouraged to entry and which were banned. It has been submitted the attitude of the native inhabitants to newcomers Ukrainian immigrants and the conditions for building their further life. It has been classified social and political movements in the Ukrainian Diaspora in Canada during the interwar period. Those were liberal, conservative, nationalist, communist, socialist movements that were taken shape in the form of societies. It has been analyzed goals of creation and directions of activities of Ukrainian public organizations, disclosed their structure and submitted the results of their activities. Their activity consisted in the building up cultural and public life in the Diaspora, the creation of the educational institutions and their financial support; the publication of their own press; popularization of their own ideology; help for the Ukrainian people in the «Old land». These public organizations always joined the general Diaspora actions on such important issues as the protest against the policy of Polish pacification, Bolshevik terror, the famine in Ukraine, supporting the uprising of the Carpathian Ukraine and others. It is clear that the members of the organizations of communist character acted for global labor movement, class struggle and did not support the action of the national-patriotic bloc. It has been explained contradictions and conflicts between international and national-patriotic public organizations. It has been grounded their impact on the consolidation forces of the Ukrainian Diaspora, preservation of national identity and prevention of assimilation trends. It has been examined the role of Ukrainians in political life of the country. It has been traced the opportunities of participation of the Ukrainians in the electoral process in Canada. Equally with this it has been investigated the history of entry of Ukrainian segment to the power circles of Canada. It has been displayed attitude of the government circles and the public of Canada to the Ukrainian pointed out activity. It has been proved the importance of the participation of Ukrainian minority in the social and political life of the country as a factor that directly influenced on the formation of its status in Canada during the interwar period.
