Essay

The thesis is devoted to investigation of the age-related peculiarities in the activity of aldehyde scavenger enzymes in the skeletal muscle of rats with various ages during immobilization stress. The obtained results show certain changes in the activity of aldehyde dehydrogenase, aldehyde reductase and glutathione transferase in the mitochondrial and postmitochondrial fractions of the skeletal muscle during ontogenesis. Immobilization of rats brings to alteration activity of these enzymes. The modulation of the activity of aldehyde scavenger enzymes in subcellular fractions of the thigh muscle pubertal rats during immobilization stress is stronger than those of adult and old ones. Alteration activities of the aldehyde scavenger enzymes at pubertal rats are accompanied by specific changes in the level products of free radical oxidation lipids and proteins in the mitochondrial fraction of the thigh muscle. Age-dependent changes in the level of basal activity of aldehyde scavenger enzymes and theirs modulation during stress may be resulted from age peculiarities in hormonal induction theirs synthesis throughout ontogenesis. Appears of these changes promote to increase sensitivity thigh muscle of pubertal rats to stress injury.
