Essay

The study of rare cespitose species of sedges (Carex bohemica, C. davalliana, C. umbrosa) revealed patterns of distribution and chorological features of these species in Ukraine. Detailed raster (UTM projection) maps are drawn up of their locations on the basis of chronological differentiation.Tolerance ranges of studied species in relation to major climatic and edaphic ecological factors and a high degree of their ecological stenotopy are analyzed. Ecological and phytocoenotic differentiation of studied species of sedges was established as well as peculiarities of their ontomorphogenesis. The reproductive capacity of species was studied and the role of vege-tative and generative reproduction was analyzed, their seed productivity was determined. The features of age, sexual and spatial structure of populations of C. bohemica, C. davalliana, C. umbrosa were studied; the mechanisms of popu-lations' self-recovery were defined and their current status on the territory of Ukraine was determined.
