Essay

The results of the comprehensive investigations of environmental assessment revealed significant contamination of air, soil and open waters by harmful substances and microorganisms in the zone of influence different capacities pig farms. Due to the retrospective analysis a high potential of Ukraine for the development of pig production and its dependence on favorable conditions for economic development was revealed. It is established that the degree of air and soil pollution with harmful substances and microorganisms increases according to the increase of farms capacity. Regularities of this impact in time and space were investigated and described. Experimentally proved that the current size of sanitary protection zones of farms do not provide sufficient protection of population and the environment from their impacts. The necessity of review of their size or technology improvement of waste management was proved. The necessity of using bioindication methods for environmental monitoring was proved; since it was found that using of such methods allow to detect the impact of pig farms on the environment and its regularities in the early stages of contamination with a high probability. The complex methods of environmental monitoring of air condition laid down in the Guidelines "Екологічна оцінка стану атмосферного повітря у районах розташування свинарських господарств".
