Essay

The dissertation deals with hard power and soft power means in the foreign policy of Barack Obama administrations. Given its importance for the shaping of the approaches of the Obama administrations, the study examines the tradition of using of the power in the US foreign policy after the Second World War. The conceptual approaches of Obama administrations to the correlation of hard power and soft power tools are defined. The American concepts of the correlation of power and non-power instruments in the context of Obama's foreign policy strategy are covered. The experience of Barack Obama's varied use of a set of "soft" and "hard" power means in the fight against international terrorism is evaluated. The features of the combination of hard power and soft power means by Washington in efforts to overcome the Middle East security threats during the period under study is considered.
