Kovalyshyn I. Biological and Ecological Features of the Genus Clematis L. Plants in Kyiv Conditions

The thesis is devoted to the research of biological and ecological features of the genus Clematis plants in Kyiv conditions for their wider implementation into the green space of the city. Defined and analyzed quantitative and qualitative structure of small-flowered clematises in public plantations and botanical gardens of Kyiv. According to the results of phenological observations studied plants were divided into three group on the base to their flowering period. The plants resistance to defeat disease and damage by pests were analyzed. Technological features of clematis vegetative propagation were defined. Appropriate sterilization mode for plant material had been selected for next cultivation in vitro. Nutrient medium for explants cultivation and rooting and substrate for adaptation of plants regenerants had been determined. Winter and drought resistance of clematises grown in Kyiv conditions were evaluated. Their physiological state was characterized by IFH (Kautsky) curve indexes. Moisture and solids content in the leaves were determined and the loss of moisture was expressed with a mathematical function. Correlation between function parameters and quantitative characteristics of the leaf structure was found. Preferences for light and moisture conditions were defined according to the leaves tissue structure.
