Research Object. Forest cultivated coenosis with presence of Douglas-fir, its plus trees and clonal seed plantations in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Research methods.Reconnoitring, forestry taxation, silvicultural, genetic selection, phenological and mathematical and statistical methods. Scientific novelty. Based on the results of complex silvicultural and taxation as well as genetic selection studies of Douglas-fir in the Ukrainian Carpathians, it was found that in the ramets of Douglas-fir on the clonal seed plantations of Prykarpattia begin to form healthy, seed-filled cones of normal size on the 14th year, that is two years earlier in comparison with European spruce, but later by six years than the European larch and three years later than the white fir. Practical importance. A total of 66 certified plus trees of Douglas fir were inspected in detail; there was determination their compliance with regulatory requirements and the possibility of use by forestry workers for harvesting seeds, cuttings, and advance growth were established in order to further expand the permanent forest seed base. The results of the research were included in the approved by State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine in "Recommendations on the effective use of clonal forest seed production in the Carpathian region and creation of plantations of an elevated genetic level", which are introduced into production at state forest enterprises.
