In dissertation work is summarized scientific opinions on the content of the concept "innovative potential of the region", ways and means of its formation and implementation; The reasons and factors of restraint of innovation activity in the region are specified. The methodology for assessing the innovative potential of the region through the development of a comprehensive system of indicators of its state, covering five separate potential components of the innovation potential of the region (scientific, personnel, technical-technological, financial-economic, organizational) is improved, and it involves the use of the integral indicator, the conceptual principles of strategic development of the region on the basis of organizational and economic mechanism of realization of innovative potential of the region, which, unlike the existing, edbachaye technologizing tasks according to defined strategic direction of improving the innovation potential and the expansion of regional management tools due to the introduction of regional marketing.
