Essay

The thesis is devoted to the development of thermal protection systems for semiconductor power converters due to the combined analysis of electromagnetic and thermal processes in the converters. The analysis of modern methods of electromagnetic and thermal processes calculation, hubs and passive components modeling is made. The expediency of using models of passive and active elements of converters with thermal and electrical operating modes dependences of parameters is shown. Combined model for electrothermal processes calculating, considering the speed of processes and division of the system into systems of equations describing fast and slow processes is proposed. Two thermal protection systems, which operate due to normalization of transient electromagnetic processes in converters and restart of smooth start after short circuit mode, considering temperature of components, are introduced.
