Essay

The dissertation is devoted to increase of process productivity of flat surfaces of parts from difficult-to-cut materials at the expense of development and use of new designs of face mills with a stepped arrangement of inserts with cylindrical front and flat rear surfaces, which provide better dynamic stability in comparison with standard face mills. The design of an experimental adjustable face mill cutter is developed, which ensures the possibility of implementing various step cutting schemes. The mathematical model of the loading of the cutting edges of the stepped end cutter is developed and the recommendations for designing rational structural parameters of the tool for the specific value of the cutting depth are formulated.
