Essay

The paper deals with the problems of interpersonal relationships between junior pupils in the team of peers from different economic status families. The main approaches to the study of interpersonal relationships in social psychology are analyzed. It highlights the main determinants of interpersonal relationships between primary school children. These determinants are education, communication, morality, territory, ethnics, economics and self-improvement. The paper demonstrates that one of the main factors in the formation of interpersonal relations is the economic status of the family. The author finds out that the social and psychological characteristics depend on the age and sociometric status of primary school children and economic status of their families. In addition, the study has confirmed that younger students treat their classmates differently and in most cases tend to choose children with the same economic status of the family for their social circle; children feel comfortable communicating if they belong to the same economic status. The author has developed and tested the program "The cooperation in interpersonal relationships" which consists of a set of socio-psychological lessons for children and parents. The lessons contribute to sensible attitude to yourself, to others and the world in general, to acquisition and consolidation by younger students of the skills of positive verbal and nonverbal communication in interpersonal relationships. The author argues that there is always a social inequality among children just as among adults in the society. However, a teacher can find personal characteristics in a pupil, which can help him/her to improve the social status in interpersonal relationships. The materials of the research can be used in primary schools.
