Budak O. Environmental monitoring of amunicipal solid waste landfills and their impact on rural areas

landfills on surrounding rural areas. It is shown that use of Myronivka landfilla cause of the deterioration of air quality, drinking water and sanitary status of agricultural soils. Results of social survey show high level of concerns of the environmental situation that arose in connection with the influence of the municipal solid waste landfill in to environment. It is proved that the effect of the municipal solid waste landfill extends beyond the sanitary protection zone; therefore there is a need to improve its monitoring system with consideration of impacts on adjacent rural areas. It is shown that to avoid the negative impact of the municipal solid waste landfills, the oundaries of the sanitary protection zone must be installed in accordance with the characteristics of the environmental conditions of their location, given the direction of prevailing winds, slope of the territory and the migration of surface water and groundwater. To improve it we need to expand the list of monitored objects with a specific list of indicators and frequency, adding the studies of vegetation, waste, society and climate.
