The object of the investigation – victims from a combined vertebro-thoracic trauma; the purpose is to improve the functional results of treatment of vertebral lesions and to improve the prognosis of the traumatic process in patients with combined vertebral trauma by reducing the influence of causative factors of the negative result of the traumatic process, developing, creating and implementing a scientifically substantiated scheme for the provision of medical care; methods – clinical, radiation diagnostics, clinical-expert, management of clinical efficacy risks, medical nonparametric statistics; novelty and results – for the first time complexly defined clinical and epidemiological and clinical and nosological characteristics of combined vertebrothoracic trauma, the established effect of spinal injury on the course of the traumatic process, identified and scientifically verified clinical outcome risks of the fatal outcome of the traumatic process in victims with combined vertebro-thoracic trauma, the main reasons for the delay of surgical treatment of vertebral lesions in victims with combined vertebral and thoracic trauma, formulated scientifically grounded clinical and organizational and medical-technological measures of adequate medical and diagnostic tactics in victims with combined vertebral traumatic trauma and proved their effectiveness; implemented – in the clinical work of the SI «Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine», the department of surgery of the spine and spinal cord and the department of polytrauma of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Care, the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the Vinnitsa Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. I. Pirogov, Lviv City Clinical Hospital № 8; the application area is the medical and diagnostic process of specialized surgical, traumatological and neurosurgical departments, emergency medical centers, scientific and pedagogical processes of the departments of traumatology and orthopedics, surgery and neurosurgery, military field surgery, emergency medical aid of medical educational institutions.
